Wir über uns

Our task is to help others

Active in Hamburg for more than 100 years

Eight years ago, the ASB Hamburg celebrated a very special occasion – its 100th anniversary. The ASB Hamburg was founded in 1907. It was merely born out of necessity, because back then neither worker protection nor medical services for employee-organized events existed. Hence, the first task of the ASB was to offer ambulant services for party events, trade unions and employee sport clubs. Additionally, the ASB organized and carried out first aid courses for employees.

The former primarily voluntary active club developed to become a modern, non-party aid- and charity-organization with a wide spectrum of tasks. It counts about 66.000 members within Hamburg. Today’s active workforce consists of about 1.300 full-time employees, 800 volunteers, 70 people carrying out civil services and people who are taking a gap year for doing voluntary work. They operate day and night in order to help and support the people living in Hamburg. Our task encompasses a multifaceted scope of duties ranging from the ambulant medical care to national and international aid programs.
